On Monday, March 17 2021, the Corredor Biológico Interurbano María Aguilar (CBIMA) CBIMA hosted an event to launch its local city-network accelerator called CBIMA por La Naturaleza. 39 experts working at CBIMA and able to impact CBIMA key challenges through their expertise were brought together. During the event they were informed of the potential benefits of participating in this city network and also had the opportunity to analyse the local challenges to be addressed in INTERLACE. The participants discussed topics including ecosystem service degradation in CBIMA, ideas for regulatory frameworks that can help to address local challenges and the importance of nature-based solutions for ecosystem restoration and rehabilitation.
Over 60 people, including mayors of local municipalities, and representatives of local councils, public institutions, Ministry of Environment of Costa Rica, civil society and media joined the PR event held in the natural surrounding of Finca Los Lotes in the municipality of La Unión on 24 March. Additionally, the First Lady of Costa Rica, Ms Claudia Dobles Camargo joined via a video message.
